Basic medicine(基础医学): Basic medicine is a discipline that uses natural scientific methods to study the relationship between human health and the occurrence and development of diseases. The professional training of undergraduates majoring in basic medicine belongs to the School of Basic Medicine, Central South University. The School of Basic Medical Sciences of Central South University has a solid historical accumulation. Forensic medicine(法医学): Forensic medicine is a science that applies the theories and methods of medicine and other natural sciences to study and solve medical problems involved in investigation and trial practice. In 1920, Xiang ya Medical College opened a forensic course called "Referee Medicine". In 1951, it established the forensic medicine teaching and research section. In 2002, it was renamed the Department of Forensic Medicine, Central South University School of Basic Medical Sciences. The team of young and middle-aged teachers in the Department of Forensic Medicine of Central South University has the advantages of high quality, high education, and strong scientific research capabilities. The three general hospitals of Central South University have forensic clinics, which have good practice and internship conditions for forensic undergraduates. The forensic medicine major created the "three early" training concepts of early exposure to professional courses, early intervention in practice, and early training of innovation and entrepreneurship, focusing on the combination of theory and practice, advocating learning in practice, building a comprehensive knowledge, quality and ability system, and conveying Forensic graduates with the ability to engage in forensic work, lifelong learning ability, and good professional quality, cultivate socialist builders and successors who have comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, and aesthetic.


Biomedical Engineering(生物医学工程): Biomedical Engineering was awarded the right to confer a master's degree in 1986 and a doctorate degree in 2003. It is now a key discipline in Hunan Province. There are 22 full-time teachers and researchers in this discipline, including 1 academician, 7 senior titles, and 11 associate senior titles. The existing teaching and scientific research equipment is worth more than 6 million yuan. Teaching and scientific research in the fields of medical equipment and information processing, medical equipment and testing have their own characteristics.
