Overviewof DepartmentalDisciplines

Our discipline concentration was developed from the subject of anatomy at Xiangya School of Medicine. In 1954, the teaching and research section of anatomy and histoembryology were established respectively. Our department began to admit graduate students in 1982 and was be able to grant doctoral degree in 2000. At present, there are six professors (including five doctoral advisors), nine associate professors (including eight master’s advisors) and two lecturers. 94.5% of the faculty members have doctoral degrees. More than twenty faculty members have been sent to world famous universities around the globe for further training studies. Right now, there are one“national-level famous teacher”, one distinguished professor of“Tianshan scholar”, one distinguished professor of "sublimation scholar" and one distinguished professor of the university president.

Teaching Introduction

So far,elevencourses are offered, including systematic anatomy, regional anatomy, anesthesia anatomy, neuroanatomy, neurobiology, sectional image anatomy, clinical applied anatomy, brain functional anatomy, cognitive neuroscience, digital medicine,cryobiologyand biobankology,providewith an average of more than 14,000 class hours per year.One massive open online course (MOOC)of regional anatomy andoneMOOC of systemic anatomyare established. In lastfive years,our facultyhas won one first prize of provincial teaching achievement award and twouniversity-level teaching achievement awards. It has undertaken 4 provincial teaching reform projectsin our department.Thirtyteachingresearchpapershave been published, includingfivescience citation index (SCI)papers.Faculty members resided as deputy editoror editor-in-chief and participated in the compilation often textbooks an twelveteaching auxiliary books, andin the translation ofoneforeign monograph. Combined with ideological and political education, a lot of work has been done in the publicity and practice of bodydonations.in recent years, with remarkable results, our departmental workprovides the mostsolidguarantee for anatomy teaching and medicalstudentstraining in our university.

Research Programs

In the past five years, our departmenthas won 14 nationaland provincial level keyresearch projects such as the 13th five year plan keyresearch and development(R & D)projects, the National Natural Science Foundationof China (NSFC)and the key R & D projects of Hunan Province. All of these project containedwith a total fund oftwenty-twomillion. More than 100 SCI papers werepublished. twentynational patentswere granted. The third prize of Hunan Natural Science Awardhad been conferred to our department faculty members.

Two main researchconcentrationshave been formed: 1.construction and research ofbiobank (characteristic research direction), covering two sub directions:construction of genetic resourcebiobank / brain bank and protection of female corpses in MawangduiHan dynasty tomb; 2.neurobiology research (long-term research direction) covers three sub directions: neurologicalinjury and repair, brain development and brain aging, and mental behavior and brain.
