The Experimental Center of Medical Morphology of Central South University was established in 2002. The center is mainly for the biomedical majors of our school, and undertakes the experimental teaching of the main courses of human anatomy, histology and embryology, pathology, oral anatomy, oral pathology, forensic medicine, and neurobiology, etc. The center covers two first-level disciplines: discipline of pathology is a national key discipline; discipline of human anatomy and tissue embryology is a provincial key discipline; human anatomy and pathology are the first batch of national quality courses, and pathology is a national high-quality resource sharing course, regional anatomy is the first batch of national bilingual demonstration courses, and human anatomy is selected as the first batch of Chinese university video open courses.

The center has a team of teachers with strong pioneering and innovative strength, represented by two national-level teachers of pathology and anatomy. The teachers in the experimental center implement a combinational management to maintain the close contact between the center and the subject, and between teaching and scientific research. The center has 13 doctoral supervisors, 16 professors, 22 associate professors, and 7 senior experimenters.

The center undertakes a wealth of undergraduate teaching work, and undertakes experimental teaching, scientific research and academic exchanges for 16 course of undergraduates and masters and doctors in the eight-year and five-year, dental, forensic and other majors of the school.

Since the establishment of the center, the state and the school have invested more than 10 million RMB. At present, the center has cloud-based microscopy digital teaching laboratory, digital slice laboratory, digital anatomy laboratory, human morphology museum, pathology multifunctional open learning center, fluorescence microscope and image analysis laboratory. The experimental teaching area is more than 8,000 square meters. There are central meeting room, library, offices, etc., which fully meet the current experimental teaching need.

The Experimental Center of Medical Morphology has 2 national-level teaching achievement awards, has 2 national-level teachers, selected as the provincial laboratory of basic course in universities in Hunan Province in 2006, and was awarded the national morphology teaching team in 2007. The Human Morphology Museum of Central South University has successively been selected as National Base of Science Education, Provincial Base of Youth Science Education in Hunan, Excellent Science Education Base in Hunan, the first "Public Popular base of Science in Hunan, the excellent National Base of Science Education.
